Wave Soldering Cooling Conveyor with Forced-Air Fans

The DEZ Wave Soldering Cooling Conveyor receives hot PCB assemblies from the output of a wave soldering machine. Overhead fans provide forced-air cooling while an inclined ESD flat belt transfers the PCBA towards inspection, touch-up, AOI or unloading.

DEZ-400W and DEZ-500W models support PCB assemblies up to 530 × 460 mm. The conveyor direction, working height and machine dimensions can be configured to match the wave soldering machine and downstream production equipment.

Cool and Transfer PCB Assemblies After Wave Soldering

PCB assemblies leaving a wave soldering machine may still be too hot for immediate manual handling, inspection or magazine storage.

The DEZ cooling conveyor creates a controlled transfer section between the wave soldering machine and the next production stage.

A typical process includes:

  1. The soldered PCBA exits the wave soldering machine
  2. The assembly enters the inclined flat-belt conveyor
  3. Overhead fans direct air across the PCBA
  4. Conveyor speed determines the available cooling time
  5. The inclined section lowers the assembly towards the downstream height
  6. The PCBA leaves the cooling zone
  7. The assembly enters visual inspection, touch-up, AOI or unloading

Typical Applications

Mixed-Technology and Through-Hole Assembly

It is suitable for production involving connectors, relays, transformers, power components and other through-hole devices processed by wave soldering.

Visual Inspection After Wave Soldering

The conveyor reduces PCBA temperature during transfer before operators inspect solder joints and through-hole components.

Manual Touch-Up and Repair

It connects the wave soldering machine to a touch-up conveyor or repair station while providing forced-air cooling.

AOI and Automated Inspection

Cooled assemblies can be transferred towards compatible inspection equipment when the conveyor height and interface are correctly configured.

PCB Unloading

The machine provides a cooling and transfer stage before manual collection or magazine unloading.

Forced-Air Cooling During Transfer

Overhead fan modules direct ambient air across newly soldered PCB assemblies while they travel along the conveyor. This provides a practical way to reduce PCBA temperature before the next operation without interrupting production flow.

Actual cooling performance depends on the PCBA entry temperature, board thickness, copper content, component mass, airflow, conveyor speed and effective cooling length. For this reason, the machine provides forced-air cooling but does not guarantee a fixed exit temperature without testing the actual PCB assembly.

Where a defined exit temperature is required, DEZ can perform a sample test using the customer’s PCB or soldering pallet and confirm the suitable conveyor speed and fan configuration.

FAQs by Wave Soldering Cooling Conveyor

Does it guarantee a specific PCB exit temperature?

No fixed exit temperature can be guaranteed from the standard specification alone. The result depends on the PCB assembly, entry temperature, airflow, cooling length, conveyor speed and ambient conditions.

The DEZ-400W supports PCB assemblies up to 445 × 350 mm. The DEZ-500W supports products up to 530 × 460 mm.

Yes, subject to confirmation of the pallet dimensions, loaded weight, exit temperature and compatibility with the flat belt.

The standard configuration uses fan-driven ambient air. Refrigerated or chilled-air cooling is not included in the confirmed specification.

The conveyor must be configured to match the machine’s exit height, angle, transfer direction, product support and control interface. Provide the wave soldering model and line drawing before ordering.

Yes. Conveyor dimensions, transport direction and working height can be customised. Additional fan or control requirements must be confirmed during engineering review.
