The DEZ-XC1000 X-Ray Component Counter automatically measures the quantity of electronic components inside tape-and-reel packaging without unwinding the carrier tape.
Operators place the reels inside the shielded counting chamber, scan the material information and start the count. The machine captures an X-ray image, identifies the individual components and displays the calculated quantity on the control screen.
Up to four 7-inch reels can be counted in less than ten seconds. The system supports reel sizes from 7 to 17 inches and components as small as 01005.
By replacing manual estimation and conventional reel counting, the DEZ-XC1000 helps electronics manufacturers obtain faster inventory information, reduce counting errors and prepare the correct material quantity before production begins.
An opened SMT reel may look almost full while containing too few components for the next production order.
If the remaining quantity is estimated incorrectly, the material may be issued to the line and run out during placement. Production then stops while another reel is located, verified and loaded.
The DEZ-XC1000 measures the remaining quantity before the material reaches production. Warehouse and material-preparation teams can therefore verify whether a reel contains enough components for the planned work order.

Traditional component counters usually move the carrier tape through a sprocket mechanism and calculate the quantity from the number of indexed pockets.
This process can require the reel to be mounted, partially unwound, counted and rewound. Counting large numbers of returned or opened reels creates repetitive work for warehouse personnel.
The X-ray component counter does not need to unwind the tape. Operators place the complete reel inside the machine and receive the count from a single scan.
For smaller reels, up to four reels can be counted simultaneously. This significantly increases throughput when a factory must process large numbers of materials after production, during inventory checks or at goods receiving.

We have worked with

An X-Ray Component Counter uses X-ray imaging and counting software to determine how many electronic components remain inside a reel, tray or compatible package.
No. Tape-and-reel components can be counted without unwinding the carrier tape.
The listed counting time is less than ten seconds per reel. Up to four 7-inch reels can be counted within one scan cycle of less than ten seconds.
The machine supports tape-and-reel formats from 7 to 17 inches.
The specified minimum component size is 01005.

The machine has a specified counting accuracy of at least 99.99% for suitable, recognised component and packaging configurations.
Yes. Up to four 7-inch reels can be placed within the imaging area and counted in one cycle.
Yes. It supports many types of ICs, transistors, diodes, FETs and other compatible semiconductor packages.
Yes, provided the individual components can be distinguished clearly in the X-ray image.
Heavily stacked or overlapping components may not be distinguishable in a two-dimensional X-ray image. DEZ recommends testing the actual packaging format.
Yes. The machine supports integration with material-management systems. The data fields and communication method are configured for the customer’s software environment.
Yes. A handheld barcode scanner and label printer are included in the listed configuration.
It can be installed in an SMT warehouse, material-preparation room, incoming-inspection area or remaining-material return station.
Yes. Customers can send representative reels, trays or tubes for recognition and counting tests.
