The L9181-05_TXPR1004E is a sealed 130 kV microfocus X-ray source for industrial nondestructive inspection, X-ray CT and inline X-ray systems.
Its 39 W maximum output provides the penetration required for thicker PCBAs, automotive electronic assemblies, plastic components and metal parts. The 100° conical beam covers a larger detector area, allowing inspection systems to process larger products or obtain a wider field of view.
The X-ray tube, high-voltage power supply and control function are integrated into one unit. RS-232C communication allows the source to be controlled by the inspection system software.

Low-power X-ray sources may struggle to penetrate thick circuit boards, dense connectors, power modules or products containing metal structures. This can produce dark images, insufficient contrast or long exposure times that limit inspection speed.
The L9181-05 combines a maximum tube voltage of 130 kV with 39 W output. The increased penetration allows compatible inspection systems to examine thicker and denser products while maintaining practical image-acquisition times.
The 100° beam angle provides broader coverage than narrow-angle X-ray sources. It is suitable for systems using larger detectors, inspecting larger components or requiring a wide field of view during inline inspection and CT image acquisition.

We have worked with
Choose the L9181-05 for thicker products, stronger penetration, faster exposure and wider inspection coverage. Choose the L9421-02 when a smaller focal spot and clearer high-magnification images are required for small PCB and BGA details.
Its design prioritises 39 W output and a 100° beam. Increasing output improves penetration and reduces exposure time but produces a larger focal spot than a low-power, high-resolution source.
Yes, but the smallest detectable feature depends on the focal spot, detector pixel size, magnification, mechanical stability and image-processing software. For very small packages requiring maximum detail, the L9421-02 may provide better results.
It can inspect compatible aluminium parts, small castings and relatively thin metal components. The result depends on material density, maximum thickness and required defect size. Thick steel parts may require a higher-voltage source.
Check the tube current, exposure time, material thickness, detector sensitivity and source-to-detector geometry. If the workpiece remains insufficiently penetrated at the permitted settings, a higher-output or higher-voltage source is required.
Coverage depends on detector size and source-to-detector distance. The beam geometry must be calculated during system design to ensure the active detector area is covered without unnecessary radiation outside the imaging area.
The L9181-05 is rated for continuous operation. The installation must still maintain the specified temperature, airflow, electrical supply and operating conditions.
Direct replacement is not guaranteed. Compare mechanical dimensions, mounting holes, FOD, beam angle, communication commands, electrical connections and shielding design before installation.
The source must operate inside a shielded cabinet or controlled enclosure with safety interlocks, emergency stop functions and radiation leakage testing that comply with local regulations.
